I was approached last year to sculpt a St Paul for a lovely old Federation Catholic Church in Gawler, South Australia. The town itself is one of the earliest towns after free settlers came to South Australia to live and there is many fine old examples of early cottages and business buildings in the area.

Bronze and "CCB" busts of Mary MacKillop
This is a photo of the two types of busts I have produced.
The one on the left is a foundry cast bronze of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop.
The one on the right is a "cold cast bronze" in epoxy resin produced from the same mould.
The bronze bust is 1/10 of a Limited Edition Bronze.

I have not been blogging for a while but there has been plenty going on.
The painting of Erin got through to the second round of judging which will be the finalists for the Doug Moran Portrait Prize . It would be wonderful to be a finalist in such a big Art Prize but I will be content to have got this far.

Erin after finding out she has made the finals late Monday night.
Erin Stephanie and Maja made the finals after round 1 competition.
Erin scored 46.525in the first meet and then backed her score on Wednesday evening with 48.025 to complete the championships with a total score of 94.550 and came 24th Nationally and top scorer in South Australian team.

Work began yesterday on the second cold cast bronze bust for the Mary MacKillop Primary School at Sunshine, Victoria and the wax is also ready at the foundry for a memorial in a parish church at Canberra, ACT.

The Commemorative mass was held on Monday 17th October and the sculpture was unveiled and blessed at the last part of the mass.
There was a large tv screen to show the unveiling and blessing to the large crowd of people at the open air mass.

The foundry will be installing the new bronze sculpture of Mary MacKillop about 10.30 am.The grounds should be ready with new area in sandstone for the installation.
